If there is
a dye or a dye mix that you are interested in, any rod can be made
almost any color. This is a difficult and labor intensive process
that involves sanding the blank (scuffing for adhesion), and then
applying a very thin and very flammable two-part epoxy resin, dye,
and plasticizer. This is dangerous work.
My charge for
this process is $25 per hour, plus the appropriate amount for reattaching
the guides, which must first be removed to ensure proper color
match and finish depth.
details on how a blank's color can be changed, please check out
Colors section of the Workshop.
