The next series
of photos shows the progression of this simple but eye-catching
design. The design was done by wrapping a single thread of black
up the blank (toward the tip) on both axes and a single thread of
red from the tip toward the butt section. To make the design more
appealing, I enhanced the pattern by adding one extra thread (red)
going down the blank on each successive turn (one black up and two
red down, followed by one black up and three red down). Additional
accent thread in gold was added to match both the gold reel seat
hoods and the gold guides on this rod.
